Asexual Reproduction - Sea stars and Rotifers

In this laboratory practice lesson (PL12), the following subjects were addressed: i) Sexual vs. Asexual reproduction; ii) Sea stars - General overview; iii) Sea stars - Fissiparity and Budding; iv) Rotifers - General overview; v) Rotifers - Parthenogenesis; vi) Research Areas. Moreover, the students performed dissection of sea stars (Marthasterias glacialis) and observed (stereomicroscope) the internal anatomy of adult specimens (i.e. reproductive, water vascular and digestive systems).
