This lecture describes the discovery of Biogas and its evolution during two centuries. Reports the biogas production from several substrate and its properties and composition, highlighting the toxic effect of some compounds. Then presents the gas transportation and security dispositives, the type of storage, the main treatment process for using biogas in heating and electricity production.
