Esclarecimentos sobre os relatórios e apresentações do trabalho laboratorial / Clarifications about reports and presentations of laboratory work

Caras e caros estudantes,
Têm surgido diversas dúvidas sobre a realização e apresentação dos relatórios do trabalho feito nas aulas práticas laboratoriais. Assim, venho esclarecer o seguinte:
1 – Os estudantes devem organizar-se em grupos de trabalho, obrigatoriamente com número máximo=4 e número mínimo=3 elementos. Sendo a ciência um trabalho de equipa, será valorizada a boa colaboração entre os membros do grupo.
2 – Os dados obtidos em cada turno devem ser partilhados entre todos os alunos desse turno, e devem ser reportados nos relatórios (i.e., os grupos de cada turno trabalharão com os mesmos dados).
3 – A constituição dos grupos deve ser-me remetida, por email, até ao dia 27 de novembro.
4 – Os relatórios devem ser entregues até ao dia 18 de janeiro.
5 – A apresentação dos relatórios será feita no dia 22 de janeiro, a partir das 10:00, em sessão zoom que será oportunamente divulgada; cada grupo terá 15 minutos para fazer a apresentação, seguindo.se um período de discussão com a mesma duração.
6 – Os relatórios devem ser redigidos e apresentados oralmente em inglês, admitindo-se a utilização do português, em último recurso. A utilização do inglês, porém, será valorizada, uma vez que é um instrumento essencial para prosseguimento da atividade científica.
7 - O relatório deverá ter no máximo 10 páginas A4 (exceto capa, índice e eventuais anexos com figuras ou tabelas suplementares) com espaçamento 1.5, tamanho de letra 12 e margens superior e inferior de 2.5 cm, esquerda e direita de 3.0 cm, e ser composto por: Título e autores (capa), índice (facultativo), resumo, introdução, material e métodos, resultados e discussão (combinados ou não), agradecimentos (facultativo) e bibliografia. O relatório deverá conter figuras ou tabelas, de preferência no corpo do texto, numeradas, legendadas e devidamente citadas no texto. As figuras, suplementares, incluídas em anexo deverão ter o prefixo “S”. No caso de figuras retiradas ou adaptadas da literatura deve indicar-se na legenda a respetiva referência.
8 – As aulas práticas laboratoriais restantes serão utilizadas para esclarecimento de dúvidas sobre as várias componentes do relatório, com o seguinte calendário: 16 de novembro – Prof. Andreia Figueiredo e Dra. Rita Santos; 3 de dezembro – Dra. Mónica Sebastiana; 10 de dezembro – Prof. Anabela Bernardes da Silva; 17 de dezembro – Prof. Ana Rita Matos. Uma vez que serão ministradas à distância dois turnos frequentarão estas aulas em simultâneo.

Dear students,
Several doubts have arisen about the writing and presentation of the reports of the work done in the practical laboratory classes. Thus, I come to clarify the following:
1 - The students must organize themselves in work groups, obligatorily with maximum number=4 and minimum number=3 elements. As science is a teamwork, the good collaboration between group members will be valued.
2 - The data obtained in each turn should be shared among all students of that turn, and should be reported in the reports (i.e., the groups of each turn will work with the same shared data).
3 - The constitution of the groups must be sent to me, by email, until November 27th.
4 - The reports must be delivered until January 18th.
5 – Reports will be presented on January 22nd, from 10:00 a.m., in a zoom session that will be announced in due time; each group will have 15 minutes to make the presentation, and a discussion period with the same duration will follow.
6 - The reports must be written and presented orally in English, the use of Portuguese must be faced as a last resort. The use of English, however, will be valued since it is an essential tool for engaging on scientific activities.
7 - The report should have a maximum of 10 A4 pages (except cover, index and eventual annexes with supplementary figures or tables) with 1.5 spacing, font size 12 and upper and lower margins of 2.5 cm, left and right margins of 3.0 cm, and be composed of Title and authors (cover), index (optional), abstract, introduction, material and methods, results and discussion (combined or not), acknowledgements (optional) and bibliography. The report should contain figures or tables, preferably in the body of the text, numbered, subtitled, and duly cited in the text. Supplementary figures should have the prefix "S". In the case of figures taken or adapted from the literature, the respective reference should be indicated in the legend.
8 - The remaining practical laboratory classes will be used to clarify doubts about the various components of the report, with the following schedule: November 16 - Prof. Andreia Figueiredo and Dr. Rita Santos; December 3 - Dr. Mónica Sebastiana; December 10 - Prof. Anabela Bernardes da Silva; December 17 - Prof. Ana Rita Matos. Since these classes will be taught at distance, via zoom, the two turns will attend these classes simultaneously.
