   Introduction to stochastic processes.

Linear death  process: one individual modeled with two random variables:  time of death   'A'  and  the random characteristic 'N(t)'. Average time of  permanence in the initial compartment (average survival time). 

 Small population: State variable N(t) as a sum of N independent Bernoulli trials has a binomial distribution. Average, and variance.
