The following discipline topic (Animal Welfare) was addressed in the theoretical lesson: i) Animal welfare (definition); ii) Research and animal production (e.g. aquaculture); iii) Legislation and iv) Welfare associations and organizations. The lesson was presented by Dr Tiago Repolho. Dr Nuno Marques Pereira (Oceanário de Lisboa) performed an invited oral presentation under the topic "Health Management in Research Aquatic Animals". Dr Vanessa Letria (MARE/FCUL) performed an invited oral presentation under the topic "Cephalopod welfare: Guidelines and best practices".
