[4+2] Cycloaddition of an electron rich diene with electron poor diemophile to form a bicyclo-]2.2.1] system. Endo and exo cycloadditions. Hydrolysis of cyanohydrins to form ketones. Bayer-Villiger  oxidation to form lactone. Migratory potential for this reaction not discussed in detail. Iodolactonisation revisited and reduction of halides using  tributylstannane and AIBN. Use of Boron halides for the cleavage of methyl ethers. Cr(VI) oxidations with and without water present. Formation of phosphonate esters using halides and trialkylphosphites. Variations on the Wittig reaction using phosphonates. Reduction of lactones to lactols with DIBAL and their reactions with ketophosphonates.
