In this introductory lecture, the course motivation, objectives, and logistics were presented, defining a model as a simplified representation of reality used to gain insights, make predictions, and support clinical measurements. The session explored modeling applications across research, educational, and clinical environments, while outlining the course program, necessary prerequisites, and primary bibliography. Finally, the evaluation structure was established, consisting of a 60% theoretical-practical component (tests/exam) and a 40% practical-laboratory component centered on a MATLAB/PYTHON-based project.
