The immune system as a sensor of metabolic state

10 Outubro 2018, 15:00 Maria Margarida Blasques Telhada

The immune system as a sensor of metabolic state. Metabolic state. OBESITY. Chronic over-nutrition. Anatomical sites of brown, white and beige adipocytes in mice and humans. White, beige, and brown adipocytes are developmentally and functionally distinct cell populations. Healthy white adipose tissue is enriched in type 2 cytokine-associated immune cells. Healthy white adipose tissue is enriched in AAMac. Healthy white adipose tissue is enriched in ILC2s, iNKT. Cellular changes in adipose tissue in young and aged mice. Nonredundant actions of iNKT and gdT cells promote adipose tissue homeostasis. Healthy white adipose tissue is enriched in type 2 cytokine-associated immune cells. Immune cells in obese WAT are characterized by pro-inflammatory phenotype. Obese white adipose tissue is characterized by type 1 cytokine-associated immune responses. Obesity induces inflammation in adipose tissue, liver, skeletal muscle and pancreas and cause dysbiosis in the intestine. Immune-directed anti-obesity therapies. Tissue-resident leukocytes augment beige adipose tissue development and function in subcutaneous white adipose tissue.
